On-Deck Dining: Easy-to-prepare food on your boat

Summer nights out on the water make for the best memories. They can also make for some hungry passengers. Here, we’ll share with you some easy recipes to make while out on the water that the whole family can enjoy. All you need to start is a cooler and some basic kitchen utensils, such as mixing bowls, forks, spoons, etc.

Neiman Marcus Cheese Dip

Who doesn’t love chips and dip?! This dip will be a fan favorite and is one of the simplest recipes you can make with only six ingredients. You can make it before you leave for your trip on the water or make it on board.

Ingredients

1 1/2 Cup of mayonnaise 

1 Cup shredded cheddar cheese

4 Green onions (chopped small)

1/2 Cup pre-cooked bacon bits

1/2 Cup silvered almonds

1 Tsp garlic minced

Tortilla chips for dipping 

Instructions 

  1. In a large bowl, add mayonnaise, cheddar cheese, bacon bits, silvered almonds and garlic. Mix all the ingredients together with a spatula.
  2. Serve dip immediately with chips or store in the fridge until ready to serve.

 

Strawberry Spinach Salad

This Strawberry Spinach Salad with homemade dressing is fresh and flavorful and is the perfect summer side salad. The combination of salty and sweet is perfectly balanced. 

Ingredients

16 Ounces fresh spinach and mixed greens

16 Ounces fresh strawberries (Stems removed, sliced)

1/2 Cup crumbled cheese (goat cheese, gorgonzola, blue cheese, feta or queso fresco)

1/4 Cup pecans 

1/2 Cup olive oil 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar

2 Teaspoons maple syrup

1 Teaspoon dijon mustard

Salt/pepper (To taste)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together oil, vinegar, maple syrup, salt and pepper until fully combined 
  2. Combine spinach, salad greens, sliced strawberries, cheese and pecans. Toss with dressing and serve. 

 

Turkey, Cranberry, Brie and Pear Sandwich

You can’t go wrong with a roast turkey and cranberry sauce sandwich, but adding brie and pear gives it that extra punch. This is such a favorite boat sandwich that your guests will be asking you to make it all season.

Ingredients

2 Slices of bread

6 Leaves of baby spinach 

4 Ounces of roast turkey, sliced or shredded

1 Tablespoon of cranberry sauce 

1/4 Pear, sliced 

2 Slices of crispy cooked bacon

1/4 Avocado, sliced

1 Ounce brie

Instructions

1. Assemble sandwich and enjoy!
