WEBVTT 00:00:09.000 --> 00:00:14.000 Hi, I'm Randy Vance. Today I'm on a brand-new boat from Chaparral. This is the SSX 00:00:14.000 --> 00:00:21.000 30. This boat is a 30-foot 2-inch stern drive model that comes brand new from 00:00:21.000 --> 00:00:27.000 Chaparral, a company that's been building premium runabouts since 1965. 00:00:27.000 --> 00:00:31.000 They've learned a lot in that time. The contiguous management of the company has 00:00:31.000 --> 00:00:36.000 made sure that all the experience is passed down over time and that lets them bring 00:00:36.000 --> 00:00:40.000 you this boat with a lifetime hull warranty and a five-year component warranty. I 00:00:40.000 --> 00:00:45.000 want to walk you through the special features on this boat, so follow me. Now 00:00:45.000 --> 00:00:51.000 there's two very prominent options on this boat. One is the HTX hardtop system. 00:00:51.000 --> 00:00:56.000 Now this is an automated system that Chaparral has built and is articulated so that 00:00:56.000 --> 00:01:00.000 you can lay it down and it comes right to the top of the windshield. A great 00:01:00.000 --> 00:01:04.000 feature when you've got a lot of rain and we did use it yesterday. It's so sturdy 00:01:04.000 --> 00:01:10.000 even when it's lowered down you can run the boat and get home without getting too wet. 00:01:10.000 --> 00:01:16.000 Now this hard top also comes with a wakeboard tow point and it's got another 00:01:16.000 --> 00:01:20.000 option on top. It's got a rack up there. It's a great place to put surfboards or 00:01:20.000 --> 00:01:25.000 kayaks. Now, one other automated feature on the boat I want to talk about is the 00:01:25.000 --> 00:01:31.000 Infinity Step on the Transom platform. Let's step out there. 00:01:31.000 --> 00:01:36.000 Now, you've got an extended swim platform back here, but the Infinity Step is this 00:01:36.000 --> 00:01:40.000 area here that tucks down into the water and gives you a great place to sit and 00:01:40.000 --> 00:01:45.000 enjoy the water from the transom platform. Now it's got a safety feature built in, 00:01:45.000 --> 00:01:51.000 it operates electrically, and it will only deploy when the motor's off, and it will 00:01:51.000 --> 00:01:56.000 only retract when the motor is off. You can see that you've got heavy-duty cleats 00:01:56.000 --> 00:02:01.000 on either side. I like the stainless-steel trim, but another thing you need to look 00:02:01.000 --> 00:02:05.000 at is right down here in the center is a tow point, and that is in addition to 00:02:05.000 --> 00:02:10.000 the tow point on the hard top we already discussed. There's freshwater access down 00:02:10.000 --> 00:02:15.000 below, you've got a shower, and one of the great features of this boat is that 00:02:15.000 --> 00:02:21.000 you've got gas access on both gunnels. That makes it easy to fill up the boat no 00:02:21.000 --> 00:02:25.000 matter which way you're pointed. Now before we leave the Transom area, we need to 00:02:25.000 --> 00:02:30.000 take a look at this lounge. 00:02:30.000 --> 00:02:34.000 Look how easily that converts to an aft-facing lounge. It's one of the easiest that 00:02:34.000 --> 00:02:40.000 we've seen. And it's a huge lounge. Look at this. 00:02:40.000 --> 00:02:45.000 It goes back just as easily. Now you've got a three-person couch right here. You 00:02:45.000 --> 00:02:50.000 step forward, here's a three-person couch, and it completes a circle of conversation, 00:02:50.000 --> 00:02:56.000 which is enhanced by swiveling the forward helm seats aft. It's a great setup for 00:02:56.000 --> 00:03:02.000 conversation, hanging out on the hook, or at the sandbar. 00:03:02.000 --> 00:03:06.000 Now, the first thing you'll notice about these helm seats is they're extra-large. 00:03:06.000 --> 00:03:10.000 That's extremely comfortable. Here's another thing I like. The controls for rotation 00:03:10.000 --> 00:03:14.000 and forward and back are right here on the armrest. You don't have to get down 00:03:14.000 --> 00:03:19.000 underneath them. Now, when I want to swivel back, it's that easy. Now I'm facing a 00:03:19.000 --> 00:03:24.000 helm station with a carbon fiber look to it, a large Simrad display, 00:03:24.000 --> 00:03:29.000 which we have our engines integrated into. Now, we can change it over and look at 00:03:29.000 --> 00:03:35.000 the navigation maps or the sonar. Here we've got our JL audio control, 00:03:35.000 --> 00:03:40.000 and there's also a controller aft. That runs eight speakers, and it's a fine 00:03:40.000 --> 00:03:45.000 sounding stereo system. Another thing worth mentioning is we've got a tilt wheel, 00:03:45.000 --> 00:03:50.000 which is leather wrapped. It's extremely comfortable on the hands. And look at how 00:03:50.000 --> 00:03:56.000 good the ergonomics are here. My hand just falls right on the throttle handle. Now, 00:03:56.000 --> 00:04:01.000 your start-stop button is right here. You've got active trim on this boat. Now, 00:04:01.000 --> 00:04:05.000 active trim on Mercury products is really so accurate. You can hardly outthink it. 00:04:05.000 --> 00:04:10.000 It's best just to leave it set on. Another thing you'll notice, we've got the Lenco 00:04:10.000 --> 00:04:16.000 Pro trim tabs. Now this is a system that operates automatically to keep the pitch 00:04:16.000 --> 00:04:21.000 and the roll of your boat as level as possible. It evens out your turns, 00:04:21.000 --> 00:04:26.000 it smooths out your whole shot, and when conditions change, such as running along an 00:04:26.000 --> 00:04:31.000 oblique wake, it helps you control the boat. Most boaters know the hardest way to 00:04:31.000 --> 00:04:36.000 drive your boat is when you're running through a wake lengthwise. This makes that 00:04:36.000 --> 00:04:40.000 easy. Now this boat's also got Chaparral's exclusive connectivity package 00:04:40.000 --> 00:04:45.000 That means you’ve got inductive chargers one on the port side, one on the starboard 00:04:45.000 --> 00:04:50.000 Mid ship port, mid ship starboard, everyplace you look you’re gonna find a USB 00:04:50.000 --> 00:04:55.000 and a USB-C connection for a wired connection to the boat. Now on the port side 00:04:55.000 --> 00:05:00.000 you open up this helm door, it’s like a James Bond look and down below you’ll find a 00:05:00.000 --> 00:05:04.000 porcelain toilet, a freshwater sink and enough room to change clothes. It's a really 00:05:04.000 --> 00:05:09.000 nice convenience on board for big crews. Now notice this latch here. You only have 00:05:09.000 --> 00:05:13.000 to get the one. They're tied together so that when you open or close one, they're 00:05:13.000 --> 00:05:18.000 both opened or closed. There's a magnetic catch over there that holds it in place. 00:05:18.000 --> 00:05:23.000 When you step up to the bow seating area, you find that you've got really large 00:05:23.000 --> 00:05:29.000 lounges, fold down armrests. The upholstery throughout this boat is a mildew resistant 00:05:29.000 --> 00:05:36.000 silicone. It is some of the finest, sturdiest, also most expensive upholstery on the 00:05:36.000 --> 00:05:41.000 market, but it's going to last a long, long time. Now this boat's equipped with a 00:05:41.000 --> 00:05:45.000 windlass. It's a stainless-steel powerful windlass. You've got controls right in the 00:05:45.000 --> 00:05:50.000 compartment and you've got controls on the dashboard. You can also access it easily 00:05:50.000 --> 00:05:56.000 by removing this cushion. That's a non -skid step beneath it. And beneath that step, 00:05:56.000 --> 00:06:00.000 you've got an insulated cooler. We even found two more inductive chargers on either 00:06:00.000 --> 00:06:04.000 side of these forward lounges. Plenty of cup holders as well. And one of the things 00:06:04.000 --> 00:06:09.000 I like about the way this dual console is built is you've got a wind dam between 00:06:09.000 --> 00:06:13.000 them. That lets you close off the cockpit from the outside elements, give you a 00:06:13.000 --> 00:06:17.000 more comfortable ride in rougher weather. I like the way the forward lounges are set 00:06:17.000 --> 00:06:22.000 up to hinge upward giving you access to those large storage compartments below. But 00:06:22.000 --> 00:06:27.000 behind the wind dam you've also got access to the console and there's a tilt -out 00:06:27.000 --> 00:06:31.000 wastebasket to keep the deck clean. Lift up the hatch in the center of the sole 00:06:31.000 --> 00:06:35.000 and you've got a large compartment below, which is ideal for storing wakeboards and 00:06:35.000 --> 00:06:41.000 water skis. In this case, it's stowing the optional canvas covers for the boat. 00:06:41.000 --> 00:06:45.000 Look at these two drawers. They pull out from the starboard or the porch side and 00:06:45.000 --> 00:06:50.000 you can see that we have a dedicated place to store the cocktail table which will 00:06:50.000 --> 00:06:55.000 fit either in the bow seating area or the aft cockpit area. Now the boat has a 00:06:55.000 --> 00:07:00.000 lot of new visual updates to it like the new color scheme where you've got the 00:07:00.000 --> 00:07:05.000 Atlas blue gel coat all the way to the top of the gunnel and you've got an apex 00:07:05.000 --> 00:07:10.000 white bootstrap and Chaparral's new white wide logo. Another thing I think is cool 00:07:10.000 --> 00:07:15.000 is how the aft lounge lifts up and gives you easy access to the bilge for routine 00:07:15.000 --> 00:07:20.000 maintenance. And they've also built in a brand new fiberglass stringer system that 00:07:20.000 --> 00:07:25.000 makes the boat extremely solid and stable in rough water and we experienced that in 00:07:25.000 --> 00:07:31.000 our testing today. I'm Randy Vance. This is the Chaparral SSX 30. We're going to go 00:07:31.000 --> 00:07:35.000 take it for another spin.
